Where Is Your Jet Card Money Held? Fund Transparency | Airacer

Where Is Your Jet Card Money Held? What Clients Should Know Before Funding an Account

When travelers compare Jet Card programs, they usually focus on aircraft availability, hourly rates, service areas, cancellation terms, and response times. Those details matter.

But if a program asks you to fund an account before you fly, another question deserves equal attention: where is your money actually held?

A Jet Card is not only a flight product. It is also a financial relationship. Before funding an account, you should understand how your money is held, who controls it, how flight charges are applied, and how much visibility you will have into your balance and account activity.

Why Fund Transparency Matters

Jet Card programs typically involve advance funding, and depending on your travel needs, that balance can be substantial.

Two programs with similar aircraft, pricing, and service can handle client funds very differently behind the scenes. So beyond "What is the hourly rate?", it is worth understanding:

  • Where your funds are held
  • Whether they are kept separate from the company's day-to-day operating funds
  • How your balance is tracked
  • How flight charges are deducted
  • What happens when a refund or adjustment is needed
  • What account visibility you will have

Three Account Structures, Three Different Meanings

Not every Jet Card account is set up the same way. These three terms are often used loosely, so it helps to know what each one generally means.

Operating account

An operating account is what a company uses to pay its normal business expenses: payroll, technology, vendors, marketing, rent, and so on. If prepaid client funds go directly into a general operating account, they become part of the company's broader cash flow, which can make it harder to understand how your individual balance is being managed.

Separate client-funds account

A dedicated client-funds account draws a clearer line between client money and the company's operating money. Depending on how it is set up, it can make deposits, available balances, flight deductions, refunds, and adjustments easier to track.

Still, "separate account" is not a complete answer on its own. It is reasonable to ask who controls the account, how withdrawals are authorized, and how funds are applied to your flights.

Escrow account

Escrow is a different arrangement. In a true escrow structure, funds are held by an independent third party and released according to predefined conditions set out in an escrow agreement.

A separate client account is not automatically an escrow account. Ask exactly which structure is being offered rather than relying on terminology.

What You Should Be Able to See

Transparency goes beyond knowing which bank receives your wire. Ideally, you should be able to see:

  • Your current available balance
  • Deposits received
  • Flight charges
  • Refunds, credits, and adjustments
  • A transaction history or periodic statement

The goal is simple: you should be able to understand what happened to your money without reconstructing it from a trail of emails, invoices, and payment confirmations.

Eight Questions to Ask Before Funding Any Jet Card

  1. Are client funds kept separate from day-to-day operating funds? This is the starting point.
  2. Can I see my current balance? You should know what remains and how that figure is calculated.
  3. How are flight charges deducted? Ask when deductions happen and what documentation you receive.
  4. What happens if a flight is canceled? Understand how cancellations, credits, and refunds are handled.
  5. What is the refund process for an unused balance? Ask whether it is refundable, how long it takes, and whether any terms or fees apply.
  6. Who controls the account? The provider, a bank, a third-party administrator, or an escrow agent?
  7. Is the account escrow, custodial, or simply separate? These describe very different arrangements.
  8. Will I receive clear documentation? Deposits, deductions, refunds, and adjustments should be easy to follow.

These are reasonable questions any time you place a meaningful amount of money into a travel program.

Payment Options Are Not the Same as Fund Transparency

Many programs let you fund an account by wire transfer, ACH, credit card, or other approved methods. That is convenient, but the way you send money says nothing about what happens to it afterward.

Keep two questions separate:

  • How can I pay?
  • How is my money managed after I pay?

How Airacer Handles Jet Card Funds

Airacer is a private aviation charter broker. Flights are operated by certified partner operators, and we believe clients funding a Jet Card with us deserve a clear picture of where that money sits and how it is used.

Dedicated client-funds account. As our standard arrangement, Jet Card funds are held in a dedicated client-funds account maintained separately from AIRACER's general operating funds.

Optional third-party escrow. For eligible transactions, clients may choose to have funds held by an independent third-party escrow provider under a separate escrow agreement. Additional fees may apply.

Clear balance visibility. Clients can ask for their available balance at any time and see how funds have been applied to booked flights.

Documented account activity. Deposits, flight deductions, and adjustments are recorded so you can follow your account without piecing it together yourself.

Straight answers. If you have a question about a balance, payment, deduction, or adjustment, you should get a direct answer. Understanding your account should not require financial expertise.

Financial Discipline Matters Too

Fund structure is one part of evaluating a provider. It is also fair to ask about the company's broader financial practices: Does it rely on prepaid client balances to fund unrelated operating expenses? Are client funds clearly tracked? Are payment and refund processes documented?

Airacer currently operates without corporate debt. That reflects a disciplined approach to managing the business, but being debt-free is not a guarantee of client fund protection. It is one factor among several worth considering.

Make Transparency Part of the Decision

Private aviation clients spend a lot of time comparing aircraft, pricing, availability, and service. Financial transparency deserves the same attention. Before funding any Jet Card, start with three questions:

  • Where is my money?
  • Who controls it?
  • Can I see how it is being used?

If a provider cannot answer those clearly, keep asking.

Your flight. Your funds. Fully transparent.
