United States Grand Prix F1 Spectator Tips

• Check out some incredible views of the circuit from the top of the observation tower (access: $25).
• Catch-fencing tends to spoil views in the lower rows. Get seats higher up and experience double the value for just a bit more.
• Even if you’ve reserved a seat in a grandstand, take time to walk around general admission areas for a change of scenery and some surprisingly impressive views.
• Most toilet facilities are of the Portaloo variety and are plentiful enough that you won’t need to queue. If you’re looking for permanent restrooms you can find them near turn 1 and turn 15 and in the main grandstand.

Austin has a humid subtropical climate. It is usually over its hottest spell by the time F1 comes to town but you can still expect to see temperatures in the mid 20’s (75 – 80ºF). Weather can change a lot from day to day and the track has very little cover from sun or rain, so be prepared for any conditions.

F1 tickets for the US Grand Prix in Austin are by no means the most expensive, but it would be nice to see more lower-priced options to attract casual fans. General admission is a good budget option though and elsewhere great views from the grandstands help to take the sting out of the higher-priced tickets.

Track Schedule

F1 track action starts on Friday at COTA with two, 1-hour free practice sessions (FP1 & FP2) for teams to find the perfect setup.

Free practice 3 (FP3) takes place on Saturday afternoon, building up to qualifying; a 3-part session where lap times decide starting positions for the Grand Prix on Sunday.
